PBSO steps in to help elderly Belle Glade resident

Posted

BELLE GLADE — Ms. Julia, an 83-year-old Belle Glade resident, depends on her walker for independence, confidence, and mobility. When her walker was taken from her front porch and later found damaged beyond repair, our deputies stepped in with care. Through the investigation, it was determined the individual involved was a neighbor experiencing mental health challenges. Out of kindness and grace, Ms. Vereen chose not to press charges, reminding us all that empathy still matters. At that moment, all we wanted was to help Ms. Julia so we contacted our community partner, Clinics Can Help who provided her with a brand-new walker without hesitation. This is how kindness works.
