TAMPA — Florida gas prices rose 11 cents last week, yet the state average remains less than $3 a gallon.
“Gas price cycling continues at Florida gas pumps, where the state average declines for 5-10 days, then rebounds anywhere from 10-25 cents,” said Mark Jenkins, spokesman, AAA - The Auto Club Group. “Fortunately, this week’s hike was on the low end, and drivers continue to find some of the lowest prices of the year.”
Last week, the state average fell from $2.92 on Sunday, Nov. 2, to $2.87 per gallon on Tuesday. By Friday, it jumped 11 cents to $2.98/g.
Sunday’s state average of $2.97 per gallon is:
• 5 cents more than a week ago
• 14 cents less than last month
• 7 cents less than a year ago
The lowest daily average price this year was $2.87 per gallon on October 21. The highest was $3.23/g on January 16.
Crude oil prices moved 1% lower last week. The previous week, the price of crude increased by 7%.
