The Weekly Clothesline: You shall not forget me…

Posted

We all forget things from time to time, and we hope it’s nothing more than getting older. Whether or not our forgetfulness is more than just age is usually determined by the degree of importance of what was forgotten. So, most of us forget things from time to time, and it’s normal.

But it makes me wonder: Could I ever forget God? I suppose anything can happen through no fault of our own. But we can be assured that the devil will do everything in his power to make us forget God, or at the very least, God’s constant presence within us. The truth is, when we make wrong decisions, we forget God. When we compromise in situations we shouldn’t, we forget God. And that has always been the devil’s plan.

The pagans in the time of King David were chastised because they did not follow the commandments that the Lord had given them. In multiple places in Scripture, we are told: “You shall not forget the covenant that I have made with you” … “My child, do not forget my teaching” …. “Bless the Lord, O my soul, and forget not all his benefits.” God tells us time and time again not to forget his power and his love for us. And even if others forget us, God will never forget.

When the problems and chaos of the world attempt to make you forget God’s protection, remember those passages and know that no one person is more important to God…than you!

God, forget, protection
