Gospel music concert

Trust Quartet singing Gaither style songs in four-part harmony are scheduled to perform in concert on May 22 at 11 a.m. at Moore Haven Church of God. The exciting Trust Quartet, a Florida-based Nashville recorded mixed group will perform with their enthusiastic approach to some of gospel’s finest songs. Trust not only has great harmony but also a unique ministering ability with song. You will not want to miss this opportunity to enjoy a great concert.

Summer camp at Carlson

Carlson Kids Camp (formerly VBS) will be held from June 27 through July 1. It’s for kids from age 3 to those who have completed 4th grade.  We will start at 8:45 am and go until 12:45 pm.  We will have worship and music, Bible Study, art, games, lunch and much more.  COME JOIN THE FUN!

Kindergarten round up

COES will have Kindy Roundup for the 2016-17 school year on Tuesday, May 10, from 6-7 p.m. in the school cafeteria. Parents of children entering Kindergarten in August 2016 and attending COES are welcome to this registration.

Kindergarten teachers will talk about a typical day in the life of a kindergarten and things parents can do to help their child get ready. Children will also have an opportunity to experience a few centers.

Bring a copy of your child’s birth certificate and immunization record.

Memory mobile coming

Visitors to the Memory Mobile can obtain a confidential memory screening; receive literature and resources related to Alzheimer’s disease or related dementia and caregiver concerns, and talk with an Alzheimer’s Association Program Specialist about specific needs/concerns. MCA to meet

GOP to meet

The Republican Party of Hendry County will meet at LaBelle City Hall, 481 W. Hickpochee Ave. on May 9 at 6:30 p.m. All registered Republican-minded Americans are invited to attend. Mother’s Day at the Gallery

Celebrate Mother’s Day at the Barron Park House Gallery and Gift Shop. Plan a special treat for your special mom on Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 8. Let her shop for her own gift at our newly opened gift shop. /selections include jewelry, fabric items, wood work, shell art, and original paintings by local artists. The gallery is celebrating Mother’s Day with homemade cookies for all visitors. Your mom will love spending time with you while she shops for herself. The Barron Park House Gallery and Gift Shop is located at47l N. Lee Street on the east side of Barron Park. Look for the vintage house with the white picket fence. The hours are from noon to 5, Thursday thru Sunday.

Annual transportation meeting

If you reside in either Glades or Hendry County and have no means of transportation for medical, shopping, higher education etc. then please join us and give us your comments!

May 4 at 10:30 a.m. at Glades County Department of Health, 1021 Health Park Drive, Moore Haven.

The Glades Hendry Joint Service Area LCB is holding its Annual Public Hearing and would like to hear from you. The LCB is made up of local elected officials, agencies and citizens who make sure that the citizens of Glades and Hendry Counties receive the transportation they need.

Drug/tobacco free partnership

Your Drug Free Hendry Coalition & Hendry Tobacco Free Partnership will be meeting May 12, 4 p.m. at Carlson Memorial United Methodist Church in the Fellowship Hall. HCSO K-9 Office Mike Lilley will talk about drug trends in Hendry County.

Widows to meet

The Widows Support Group will meet at Amigos & Beer May 19 at 11:30 a.m. All widows are welcome.

Cinco de Mayo at the library

Arts of the Inland

The public is invited to a general member meeting of Arts of the Inland to be held on Tuesday, May 10, 6-7 p.m. and location will be the Large Meeting Room at Lee County Veteran’s Park Recreation Center, 55 Homestead Road S in Lehigh Acres.

There will be a display by AOI artist and instructor June DeVincent and her students. Ms. DeVincent is a founding member of Arts of the Inland and has been teaching her craft for many years at Veteran’s Park.

Operation Cleansweep

Operation Cleansweep provides a safe way to dispose of cancelled, suspended, and unusable pesticides. Fresh From Florida is waiving the 750 lb limit for qualifying material and are also allowing other entities such as government, schools, institutions, etc. to participate for free up to the time funds are depleted for this program year.
