LaBelle has a new specialty neurology outpatient clinic founded by Lenay Santana, MD. Santana is a Board Certified Neurologist and a Board Certified Neuromuscular Specialist. She graduated from the Louisiana State University School of Medicine in 2009. She moved to Florida to work in an outpatient neurology clinic in Fort Myers in 2014.

In the 2017 she realized that she wanted to work in a patient-centered medicine practice, and not be constrained by the short patient appointments she had at the time. Many of her patients in Fort Myers were driving long distances from LaBelle, Clewiston and Lake Placid. There were almost no specialists or neurologists between Fort Myers and West Palm Beach for these patients. So she decided to open her own practice in LaBelle in March 2018 as Heartland Neurology PLLC at 777 W. Hickpochee Ave, Suite C.

She sees adult patients with neurological complaints or referrals from other physicians. Neurological conditions include ALS (Lou Gehrig’s Disease), Parkinson’s Disease, Multiple Sclerosis, Alzheimer’s disease and other dementia, strokes and TIAs, epilepsy and seizures, neuropathies, headaches and more.

She performs procedures in her office in LaBelle including: Electromyographies (EMGs), Nerve Conduction Studies, and Botox for spasticity or dystonia. Heartland does not require a referral, but the patient’s insurance may require one to see a specialist such as a neurologist. Dr. Santana participates in Medicare and most major insurers. She is fully bilingual in English and Spanish, but asks ESL patients to bring an interpreter to assist them with paperwork and the office staff.

Heartland Neurology is open from Tuesday – Friday 9 a.m. - 4 p.m. and Saturdays 9 a.m.-noon.
