Deputy Gary Ben Hull was born and raised in LaBelle, FL. His family ties extend back several generations in Hendry County, and this is the place he plans to always call home.

Deputy Hull attended LaBelle schools and graduated from LaBelle High School in 2012. Unsure of what career path he wanted to travel, Hull worked for Direct Industrial Products and Machining for about a year. He also spent about three years working for his father’s company, Hull Land Surveying, Inc. After realizing that he was not cut out for the life of a surveyor, he set his sights on Law Enforcement.

Looking for a secure career that would offer a good retirement and the opportunity to give back to his hometown, Hull enrolled at the Southwest Florida Public Service Academy in July of 2017. In early December, he earned his Law Enforcement Certification, and was ready to begin his career as a certified deputy.

Deputy Hull trained at the Hendry County Sheriff’s Office (HCSO) while he attended the academy. This gave him the chance to learn how the HCSO operates on a day-to-day basis. It also gave him a chance to ask questions, observe, and get first hand experience from veteran officers. After graduation, he began his job as a HCSO Road Patrol Deputy, and immediately felt at home.

With only a couple of months of experience under his belt, Deputy Hull is still learning the ropes. He spends his days patrolling the local roadways, answering service calls and writing up many reports. Deputy Hull admits that some days are more difficult than others. On the job for only a short time, he has already had to deal with situations that the average person might run from. Fortunately, there have also been several positive experiences that have reinforced Deputy Hull’s choice to work in Law Enforcement.

He is enjoying getting to know his day shift coworkers, and he looks forward to learning as much as he can from them. When asked what his favorite part of the job has been so far, he answered, “I find it rewarding to locate people with outstanding warrants. If I can help bring in the bad guys, then it helps keep our streets safe.”

Deputy Hull is committed to a lifelong career in Law Enforcement, and will strive to continue helping the residents of Hendry County. He stated, “I enjoy helping our local community by getting to know people, and providing them with the assistance they need.”

The citizens of Hendry County can be assured that Deputy Hull is working hard to keep the community safe. He is proud of his chosen profession, and takes his “to protect and to serve” oath very seriously.
