Girl Scouts announce new troop

Posted

LaBelle, FL–Girl Scouts of Gulfcoast Florida has announced the formation of a new Girl Scout troop for girls in Kindergarten and first grade.

At the youngest age level of Girl Scouts, known as Girl Scout Daisies, girls can make new friends, earn program petals (the special Daisy version of badges earned by older Girl Scouts), explore nature, make a difference in the community through service projects, and more.

Thanks to funding from United Way of Lee, Hendry, Glades, and Okeechobee Counties, program scholarships are available to cover all basic expenses, including troop uniforms, program books, and supplies. “We are so grateful to United Way for helping us offer this amazing opportunity free of charge,” says council CEO Mary Anne Servian. “With so many families struggling financially, United Way support makes it possible for every girl to participate.”

The troop will meet Tuesday evenings from 5:30 – 6:30 p.m. at Country Oaks Elementary School. For more information, contact volunteer troop leader Alvie McAvoy at 863-517-0886.
