Downtown LaBelle getting much needed housing

The apartment building on Missouri Street. (Caloosa Belle/Amanda Nelson)

Beck Construction, LLC is excited to showcase their new apartment complex located on Missouri Street. Owner Derek Beck would like to let the public know that this project will provide much needed upscale essential housing for those looking for somewhere to rent – especially young professionals and families.

Over the last several months, there has been some speculation about this project. Some were worried about the loss of the trees while others were concerned about an eventual ‘run-down’ apartment complex near the heart of downtown LaBelle. There were also concerns about parking. Beck’s goal is to maintain a clean, safe and inviting property that will add charm to the local neighborhood.

The land is zoned R-3 (multi family residential) which might come as a shock to many. After acquiring the property, Beck has worked diligently to preserve its beauty by leaving as many of the beautiful oak trees as possible. He also decided to add extra aesthetics on the backside of the units which face Missouri Street. Those who are passing by will see the addition of varied paint colors and stonework as they walk or drive down the street, not just bland painted stucco.

With two floor plans to choose from, renters will be able to enjoy upgrades such as wooden cabinets, granite countertops, stainless steel appliances and hurricane impact windows. There will also be ample parking in both the front and back of the two buildings.

Beck noted that he has used mostly local contractors and companies to build these apartments. This project has brought jobs and cash flow to our local community. His vision is to bring people into LaBelle who will then, in turn, shop locally and pay taxes. His hope is that it will be a win-win situation for everyone.

Beck stated that he “wanted to keep this a nice community project and provide a place for single professionals or young families to live.” Beck Construction, LLC will manage the property. For more information about these rentals or obtaining an application, please contact Melanie at 239-564-BECK.
