The Hendry-LaBelle Recreation Board would like to remind citizens that dogs (leashed or unleashed) are not permitted in LaBelle’s public parks and playground areas. Although employees and members of the Board are pet lovers, the main concerns are public safety and hygiene issues.

This rule applies to the Alton “Kid” Jones Park, Bob Mason Park, Civic Park, Davis-Pratt Park, Felda Park, Joe Culliver Park, LaBelle Nature Park, the LaBelle Sports Complex, Pioneer Park, LaBelle Sports Park and the Zac Reyna Memorial Playground.

The Rec Board has received several complaints regarding dog waste being found throughout the parks and on walking trails. Even when the waste is picked up and properly disposed of, it still leaves a residue that could potentially be unsanitary for the park’s many visitors as well as the employees who maintain the facilities.

Please note that there is a park available for our K-9 friends. The LaBelle Dog Park is located at 1105 Pratt Boulevard, and is open from sunrise to sunset. This park provides two safely enclosed areas. One is specifically for small breeds and the other for larger breeds. This park is designed to keep your fur babies safe.
