Crossroads’ managing entity is the Florida Department of Children and Families. It has many different services to help with mental health issues. Some of the services provided by Crossroads are: medical assisted treatment for opiate dependants, out-patient detoxification, and substance abuse at the jail are just a few.

Counselors treat adults and children that have mental health issues with therapy in the home and at school.

Assisting medical personnel evaluate people’s mental health under the Baker Act is something else Crossroads does. The Baker Act allows for an involuntary examination (what some call emergency or involuntary commitment) when there is evidence that a person possibly has a mental illness.

One program that makes CEO Gregory J. Finer and his staff feel very proud is the internship program that has been established. This program is connected to some of the local colleges and was set up just like an internship for a doctor. Mental health students have to complete an internship working in the mental health field to graduate and get a degree. Crossroads has 5 such students in its internship program.
