Closures and cancellations due to hurricane Dorian

The following is a list of cancellations and businesses or public offices that will be closing early in preparation of hurricane Dorian. It will be updated throughout the day.

Okeechobee County
• Okeechobee Public Library will be closing at 11:30 a.m. on Friday, Aug. 30. The Library will reopen on Tuesday, Sept. 3, pending further notice.
• City Offices closing due to Hurricane Dorian beginning at 1:30 p.m. on Friday, Aug. 30, and will remain closed through 4:30 p.m. Wednesday, Sept. 4. Offices will reopen at 8 a.m. on Thursday, Sept. 5, unless it is deemed unsafe by the Chief of Police and City Administrator.

• The City Council meeting and first public hearing to consider the millage rate and budget for fiscal yeah 2019-2020 scheduled for Tuesday, Sept. 3, will be postponed to a later date, which will be determined and publicly noticed post hurricane.

Hendry County
• Hendry County government offices will be closed on Monday, Sept. 2, for the Labor Day holiday. For updates, visit www.preparehendry.com.

Glades County

• The Glades County Emegency Operations Center has issued a press release stating that the Glades County offices including constitutional offices will be closed on Tuesday September 3. County Employees will need to check local media channels or their supervisor Tuesday night, Sept. 3, to see if County Offices will be open for work.
