Glades County Road Watch Report for week of Feb. 15-21

The following column is the Road Watch report for Glades County for the week beginning Sunday, Feb. 15, provided by the Florida Department of Transportation.

Motorists are reminded to wear safety belts and drive with caution, courtesy, common sense, and patience as they travel through work zones. Remember, speeding fines are doubled in work zones.

U.S. 27 (S.R. 25) at S.R. 78 Intersection: (Construction project) Crews will be reconstructing the intersection with concrete pavement. Other improvements include milling, resurfacing, drainage, guardrail, signing, and pavement markings. Please use caution in the area and watch for workers, traffic signage, detours, and equipment throughout the project.

• S.R. 78 Industrial Drive closure: Industrial Drive between Glades Business Park and S.R. 78 was closed beginning October 7, 2025. Traffic followed posted detours and temporary pavement along the south side of S.R. 78. Local traffic accessed Glades Business Park via U.S. 27. Northbound U.S. 27 traffic followed a new traffic pattern along the newly constructed northbound roadway. The section of roadway is scheduled to reopen between December 10 and December 12, 2025.

• S.R. 78 traffic shift: S.R. 78 traffic will be shifted onto the newly constructed roadway, replacing the temporary pavement on the east side of S.R. 78. The traffic shift is anticipated between December 10 and December 12, 2025.

• Industrial Drive Lane impacts: Intermittent lane closures will occur on Industrial Drive between Glades Business Park and U.S. 27 for milling and resurfacing, asphalt work, and thermoplastic installation from November 24, 2025, through December 23, 2025. Flagging operations will be in place to maintain traffic.

• U.S. 27 lane impacts: Intermittent lane closures will occur on U.S. 27 for curb installation, sodding, milling and resurfacing, concrete grinding, concrete joint sealing, and thermoplastic placement from October 27, 2025, through December 23, 2025. At least one lane in each direction will remain open at all times.

• S.R. 78 lane impacts: Intermittent lane closures will occur on S.R. 78 for milling and resurfacing, concrete grinding, concrete joint sealing, and thermoplastic placement from November 24, 2025, through December 23, 2025. Flagging operations will be used to maintain traffic flow.

• Motorists should use caution, follow posted signage, and watch for workers and equipment in the area.

Estimated completion is fall 2025.
