Glades County Road Watch Report for week of April 26 - May 2

The following column is the Road Watch report for Glades County for the week beginning Sunday, April 26, provided by the Florida Department of Transportation.

Motorists are reminded to wear safety belts and drive with caution, courtesy, common sense, and patience as they travel through work zones. Remember, speeding fines are doubled in work zones.

S.R. 70 from Lonesome Island Road to the Okeechobee County line: (Maintenance project) Crews will conduct falling weight deflection testing on Tuesday, April 21, 2026.

• Work will take place from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. as a mobile operation with no lane closures.

• Motorists should expect minor delays and use caution when traveling through the area.

S.R. 78 from south of Canal Boat Ramp to the Okeechobee County line: (Maintenance project) Crews will conduct falling weight deflection testing on Wednesday, April 22, 2026.

• Work will take place from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. as a mobile operation with no lane closures.

• Motorists should expect minor delays and use caution when traveling through the area.

S.R. 78 from Buckhead Road NE to Access Road: (Permit project) Crews will perform overhead pole hardening operations along the corridor.

• Work will take place daily from 9 a.m. to 4 p.m., Monday, April 20, through Friday, April 24, 2026.

• Intermittent lane closures will occur during work activities.

• Motorists should expect possible delays and use caution while traveling through the work zone. Work is expected to continue through May 29, 2026.
