Legion Post 64 holds events
OKEECHOBEE — American Legion Post #64, 501 S.E. Second St., will host the following events: On Wednesday, Dec. 16, margaritas and tacos will be on sale from 11 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. and the grill will be open. Music by Cheryl and Phil from 3 to 6 p.m. On Thirsty Thursday, Dec. 17, there will be buckets of beer and screwdrivers specials. Sign up for a $20 bar tab. Five-card bingo will be from 4 to 6 p.m. Lunch served all day. On Friday, Dec. 18. On Friday, Dec. 18, a holiday ham drawing will be held and the RED shirt challenge. Wear RED every Friday and be registered for a free dinner. A fish fry will be held. The kitchen will open from 5 to 8 p.m. Music by Wayne Purvis from 6 to 9 p.m. On Saturday, Dec. 19, is Sporting Saturday with Happy Hour all day and buckets of domestic beer special all day. Sunday, Dec. 20, is Sporting weekend with NFL games. There will be drafts and chicken wing specials. On Monday, Dec. 21, five-card bingo is 1 to 3 p.m. Lunch starts at 11 a.m. Top Shelf Tuesday, Dec. 22. Bloody Mary’s and buckets of domestic beer specials all day. Lunch served all day. VFW Post 4423 holds events
OKEECHOBEE — VFW POST 4423, 300 N.W. 34th St., will hold the following events: On Wednesday, Dec. 16, three-card bingo will be held at 1 p.m. On Thursday, Dec. 17, dauber bingo is at 1 p.m. On Friday, Dec. 18, catfish and burgers at 6 p.m. Karaoke at 7 p.m. with Bobby T. On Sunday, Dec. 20, three-card bingo is at 1 p.m. On Tuesday, Dec. 22, dauber bingo is at 6 p.m. For information, call 863-763-0818.

BRN to hold meeting

Republican party to meet
OKEECHOBEE — The Republican Party of Okeechobee will hold its annual Organizational Meeting followed by the regular monthly meeting Monday, Dec. 21, at Cowboy’s BBQ, 202 N.E. Seventh Avenue at 6:30 p.m. Come at 6 p.m. if ordering food.

Miss Rodeo Pageant set
The Miss Rodeo Okeechobee Pageant will be held on Saturday, Feb. 15 at the old Okeechobee Cattleman’s Arena at 9 a.m. Miss Rodeo Okeechobee and her Court promote rodeo in the Okeechobee area. They serve as ambassadors for Okeechobee Cattleman’s PRCA and Ranch rodeos held annually in Okeechobee, Florida. The arena is located at 1885 U.S. 441 N. TFP to hold virtual meeting
GLADES COUNTY — Glades County residents are invited to attend the virtual Glades County Tobacco-Free Partnership (TFP) Quarterly Meeting on Wednesday, Dec. 16, at 3:30 p.m. For information on how to register for the meeting, call 863-265-6055. VFW Post 9528 host events
BUCKHEAD RIDGE — The VFW Post 9528, 29012 S.R. 78 E. in Buckhead Ridge, will host the following events: Quarter bingo will be held on Wednesday, Dec. 16 from 2 to 4 pm on Weds. Dec 16. Burgers and fries served from 12:30 to 2 p.m. The Sons of AMVETS will serve Country Fried Steak, with sides and dessert at 5 p.m.‘till it runs out. Dauber Bingo is Thursday, Dec. 17, from 1 to 4 p.m. Burgers and fries from 11:30 to 1 p.m. Three-card bingo is from noon to 2 p.m. Dinner is Friday, Dec. 18 from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Menu includes grilled rib eye steak, grilled pork tenderloin, fried fish and shrimp with sides, salad and dessert. Music by Jerry Allen from 6 to 10 p.m. The VFW Riders serve a full breakfast from 8 to 11 a.m. and dinner at 5 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 19. Wreaths Across America will be escorted by riders to Ortona Cemetery on Saturday, Dec. 19. Breakfast served at 8 a.m., kickstands up at 1 a.m. Ceremony begins at 11:30 a.m. at Ortona Cemetery. The Sons of AmVets serves breakfast from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. on Sunday, Dec. 20, Five-card bingo is Sunday, Dec 20 at 5 p.m. Washers at 1 p.m. Wii bowling is Monday, Dec. 21 at 4 p.m., five-card cookie bing at 6 p.m. followed by followed by Right - Left - Center, and Euchre at 6 p.m. Sons’ sliders at 5:30 p.m. and cornhole on Tuesday, Dec. 22 at 6:30 p.m. Quarter bingo is Wednesday, Dec. 23 from 2 to 4 p.m. Burgers and fries at 12:30 to 2 p.m. The Ladies AmVets will serve sloppy joe, chips, and dessert dinner at 5 p.m. until out. Free COVID testing available
MOORE HAVEN — There will be free COVID-19 testing at the Glades County Health Department, 1021 Health Park Drive, on Thursday, Dec. 17, 9 to 11 a.m. This is open testing, no appointments needed, for adults and children 5 years and older with parental consent. No criteria or restrictions for testing.

Donations sought for wreaths
BUCKHEAD RIDGE — On Saturday, Dec. 19, at 11:30 a.m. the Buckhead Ridge VFW Post 9528 will host the Glades County Wreaths across America placement of wreaths on 354 veterans’ graves at Ortona Cemetery, 8898 West SR 78. The post is asking for a donation of $15 each, and three wreaths for $30. Thrift store hold sale
MOORE HAVEN — A Bountiful Barn Thrift Store, 198 Seventh Ave., Suite 4, will hold a Holiday Sale through Dec. 31. Layaway available with 10% deposit. Open Monday through Saturday 10 a.m. to 5 p.m.

Kiwanis Kids’ Day scheduled

LABELLE — LaBelle Kiwanis Club’s Annual Kids’ Day event has been rescheduled for Saturday, Jan. 23, at Barron Park, 1559 De Soto Ave. from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m.

Palm Beach County

Food distrubution dates set
BELLE GLADE — Glades Initiative, 141 Avenue C, distributes food to those in need every Wednesday from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m. The next dates is Wednesday, Dec. 16. Those coming in cars are asked to line up beside the office for drive-through pick-up. Both drivers and walkers will receive food bags on a first-come first-serve basis. They ask that drivers and their passengers remain in their vehicles and practice social distancing measures to keep everyone safe.

Auxiliary Market set Dec. 19
BELLE GLADE — The American Legion Auxiliary Market, 101 S.E. Ave. D, will be held on Saturday, Dec. 19, from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. There will be arts and crafts and more.

CRA meeting off for Dec. 21
BELLE GLADE — The City of Belle Glade’s Community Redevelopment Agency board (which is the city commission itself) has canceled the Monday, Dec. 21 meeting.

DHCAC presents musical
