FWC to host a virtual Gopher Tortoise Research Symposium on Feb. 20

The Florida Fish and Wildlife Conservation Commission (FWC) is hosting a virtual Gopher Tortoise Research Symposium on Feb. 20, 2026, from 10 a.m. to 12:15 p.m. EDT to showcase research that helps inform conservation and management actions for gopher tortoises and their commensals. The public is welcome to join online via Microsoft Teams or call in for audio only (850-270-2928; Meeting ID 875 162 941#). There will be time for questions after each presentation. A full agenda with presentation titles is attached.

The FWC’s annual call for gopher tortoise research and outreach proposals is also currently open until April 15, 2026. Full information including application requirements and priority topics is available on the FWC Gopher Tortoise program’s Call for Proposals webpage.
