In branches throughout the Palm Beach County Library System they will be offering events that honor the heritage, contributions and achievements of the African American community. Join them for book discussions, musical performances, films, African American genealogical research, and much more. With over 20 events being offered, there will be something for all ages and interests. Black History Month has its national roots in a week-long observation initiated by Dr. Carter G. Woodson in 1926, it was expanded into Black History Month by President Ford in 1976, and became Public Law 99-244 in 1986. Sponsored by Children’s Services Council of Palm Beach County.

• Orisirisi African Folklore presents Moonlight Stories on Thursday, Feb. 21, at 10 a.m. at Loula V. York Branch Library, 525 Bacom Point Road in Pahokee. The Orisirisi shares the beauty of African life and culture through storytelling. With African drumming, spirited call and response songs and fun-filled audience participation. • Arts & Crafts: Black History’s Inventions - In celebrating Black History’s Inventions, the public is invited to come and create your own on Wednesday, Feb. 20, at 4 p.m. at the Clarence E.
