Two Okeechobee High School Brahman wrestlers are advancing to the Florida High School Athletic Association state tournament.
The two seniors, William Crum and Navaeh Robinson will go on to represent Okeechobee in Kissimmee.
This will be William’s first trip to the state tournament. He punched his ticket by placing fourth in the region in his weight class at the regional tournament in Jensen Beach.
While this is William’s first trip to state, Naveah Robinson will be making her third trip to the state tournament. Robinson placed third in her regional qualifier in Homestead. Last year she was a fifth-place finisher and is ready to take the step in the tournament.
Naveah Robinson was the lone girl to compete for Okeechobee at the tournament last year. There were 128 teams that had at least one girl competing. She lost her first match but battled back to get into the placing round. With her family in the stands cheering her on she was able to battle through a tough back and forth match.
The Chobee Wrestling Club is signing up boys and girls aged 6 to 18 Tuesday and Thursday at 6 p.m. in the OHS gym. The cost is $40. Contact Coach Jahner for more at 863-634-9411.
