MOORE HAVEN- The Moore Haven Terriers varsity baseball team fought back from a 6-6 tie against Everglades City to win 17-6 on April 11.
Everglades City jumped out to a 6-1 lead in the top of the second inning, but the Terriers came back in the bottom of the inning to tie the game. In the fourth inning with the bases loaded senior Sean Miner singled to drive in a run and break the tie. Later that inning, juniors Za'marrian Teel and Calvin Jones each brought in a run after being hit by a pitch and drawing a walk.
The Terriers would add 3 more runs in the fifth inning, but it was the sixth inning where Moore Haven truly ran away with the game, adding six runs to the scoreboard. Teel and junior Landon Marquith led the Terriers with 3 RBIs each against Everglades City in the win, followed by Bryan McDuffie, Wren Keen, and Jaelin Johnson who all notched 2 RBIs.
Moore Haven had nine stolen bases during the game, with senior Miguel Arroyo leading the team with three.
Before the big win over Everglades City, the Terriers secured a win over the Glades Central Raiders on April 4. Moore Haven won 11-3 over the Raiders.
The Terriers will face two more Lake Okeechobee schools before the end of the season. On April 26 Moore Haven hits the road to take on the Pahokee Blue Devils, before traveling to Belle Glade to play the Glades Day Gators on April 27.
