HIGHLANDS COUNTY – A semi overturned on State Road 70 in Highlands County on July 19, at 10 a.m. according to the Florida Highway Patrol.
The report by FHP Trooper Hess states “Vehicle 1 (Semi truck/trailer) was traveling west on State Road 70, approaching County Line Road. Vehicle 2 (Semi truck/trailer) was traveling behind Vehicle 1, attempting to pass. As Vehicle 2 attempted to pass Vehicle 1, Vehicle 1 attempted to turn left onto County Line Road. The front left of Vehicle 1 collided with Vehicle 2. Vehicle 2 traveled off the roadway and overturned.”
The driver of Vehicle 2, a 73-year-old Tampa man, was seriously injured and was transported to an area hospital.
The driver of Vehicle 1, a 52-year-old Sebring man received minor injuries.
The crash is still under investigation.
