Republican Russell W. Tidaback is running for Clerk of the Circuit Court and Comptroller

He is a genuine team player committed to managing overall operations and projects flawlessly while contributing to revenue producing activities. He is also a very well versed cross-functional communicator, easily interfacing with high-profile staff, clients, customers and vendors. He is versatile, innovative, and a loyal management professional able to grasp the “big picture” while staying on top of all the details. Mr. Tidaback is recognized for consistent success in developing the processes and procedures to streamline operations and enhance revenue performance.

In addition to his current position as Owner of Tidaback, LLC, a Florida based asset investment company, he provides oversight for shared services; include HR, Legal and Corporate Operations. Russell is a key member overseeing acquisitions, due diligence, negotiation and integrations activities. He oversees the planning, implementation and strategies aligned to finalize projects within triple constraints of delivering on time, within budget and scope objectives.

He began his public service career by serving as an enlisted soldier in the United States Army in 1992. He deployed numerous times to combat and conflict zones and is a highly decorated combat veteran. Russell deploying to Southwest Asia, Kuwait, Saudi Arabia and then to South Korea. Upon returning to the United States in the late 1990’s, he completed his undergrad degree in Computer Science and became a Commissioned Officer in the United States Army. Russell received his Army Officer commission by Congress from attending the grueling Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, GA. After Commissioning, he was chosen to go into the Signal Corp Branch where he successfully rose through the ranks in the Information Management Division. Russell was instrumental in the leadership and involvement of implementing the Microsoft Active Directory concept throughout the entire U.S. Army National Guard Network, all 50 States and Territories along with the other branches of the U.S. Military. All the Military branches were now connected and able to rapidly communicate, share files and become interdependent and paperless; saving the tax payers millions of dollars each year; and this system is still in use today.

Through his success in the Signal Corp, he was presented an opportunity to attend the Army Flight School Program to further his career opportunities. Russell seized this opportunity and spent the next fifteen months in flight school at Fort Rucker, AL learning to fly the Civilian Model Bell 206 Helicopter, the Observation Helicopter (OH-58) Kiowa and the Utility Helicopter (UH-60) Blackhawk. He was assigned to an Oklahoma Army National Guard Medevac/Aeromedical detachment where he deployed on a combat tour in Iraq with the 2/149th General Support Aviation Battalion. He is a Commercial Licensed Helicopter pilot through the Federal Aviation Administration (FAA) and is Visual Flight Rules (VFR) and Instrument Flight Rules (IFR) rated.

Russell spent the rest of his Army career as an Army Aviation Operations Officer where he was able to provide exceptional leadership and organizational skills to lead over 500 professionals in 24-hour continuous operations over three continents worldwide. He was able to provide the strategic vision for operations and effectively assisting in managing all aspects of strategic planning/road mapping, business case development, prioritization, financial insight and auditing accuracy to meet the organizations goals and needs. He established partnership strategies with local and national partners, including community based organizations, government stakeholders, and non-government agencies. Russell was responsible for the strategic planning, development, and implementation of long and short term goals to effectively use the 31 aircraft ($711M assets (2013)) and end-to-end accountability for enterprise delivery. Operating a $12.1M annual budget, responsibilities included P&L forecasting, monitoring expenditures and utilizing operational and financial analytical reports. After many successful years serving in many different roles, capacities and combat zone deployments to Southwest Asia and Iraq. He retired from the military in 2014 as a Captain (P).

Russell is a graduate of Grantham University with a Master’s degree in Business Administration (MBA) and Mid America Christian University with a baccalaureate degree (B.S.) in Computer Science.

Russell is a native of Ocoee, Orange County, Florida; father of two children, a daughter, Jordan, who is currently a Senior at Florida SouthWestern (FSW) State College pursuing a B.A.S Degree in Business Administration and a son, Dawson, who currently attending High School. He resides and is a home owner in LaBelle since 2013.

His successful 20+ years of business history, military career and education has given him the insight, knowledge and experience required to ensure the appropriate legislated collection, administration, leadership and oversight behind the legal administration, the accounting and the accurate auditing of our communities’ tax dollars which is essential to improving the quality of life for Hendry County residents!
