OKEECHOBEE — Preparations are underway for the 36th annual Grad Party to celebrate Okeechobee High School’s graduating Class of 2025. This year’s event will be held on Friday, May 23, from noon until 3 p.m. for the seniors.

This party was started by Paul Buxton way back in 1989 to allow the students to celebrate in a safe and supervised way. The format has changed, no longer is it an all-night party since graduation is now held in the morning. We host the party immediately after the mandatory graduation practice on Brahman Field. Grill master Noel Stephen cooks hamburgers and hot dogs to feed the students, then we provide a substantial gift to each student in attendance. The gifts are purchased using donations from community members, organizations, and Children’s Services Council.
