OKEECHOBEE — A 75-year-old Port Saint Lucie man was killed early Wednesday morning, Jan. 25 after he reportedly hit an oncoming vehicle.
The accident occurred on U.S. 441 near Fort Drum at approximately 5 a.m. The man who was killed was driving a Chevrolet Trax SUV southbound on U.S. 441 approaching Northwest 290th Trail. The second vehicle, a Trail King Industries tractor trailer pulling a 53' open dump container, was a 38-year-old man from Miami. This vehicle was heading north.
The driver of the SUV drove into oncoming traffic for unknown reasons and collided with the side of the tractor trailer.
Th Port Saint Lucie man was pronounced deceased on the scene. The second driver was uninjured.
The accident remains under investigation.
