OKEECHOBEE- Sergeant Steven Pollock was named Law Enforcement Officer of the Year at the Annual Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Office Employee of the Year Awards ceremony on Feb. 7.
The ceremony was held at the The Philippine-American Cultural Foundation Center. Before the awards, newly hired law enforcement deputies and correctional deputies were sworn in and took the oath of office in front of family and friends. Family members had the chance to pin badges on the new hires as well as recently promoted deputies.
Krystal Payne was awarded the LEO Support Staff of the Year, while Barbara Golden was awarded the Volunteer of the Year. Wade Morgan won Detention Deputy of the Year and Stephanie Rogers was awarded Detention Support Staff of the Year.
Alex Garcia, Cristina Torres, Daniel Franklin, Michael Cauley, Richard Varnadore, Adrian Rogers, Ryane Ammons, Demarcus Dixon, Leland Schoonmaker, Lisa Leon, Katelyn Deschamps, and Jessie Coffield were all promoted to corporal.
Gary Cashwell, Heath Hughes, Sport Pickering, William Hull, Jack Nash, Cody Hurst, Marcus Collier, Andrew Eulenfeld, Dory Sanchez and Javier Gonzalez were promoted to sergeant.
Matt Hurst and Bryan Lowe were promoted to lieutenant, while Samuel Medina was promoted to Assistant Animal Control Director and Kathleen Watson was promoted to Crime Scene Director.
