SOUTH BAY — According to a report by Palm Beach County Sheriff’s Office, on Wednesday, Nov. 11, at approximately 6:11 a.m., Jovan Watson, a 30-year-old from Tampa, was driving a semi north on U.S. 27 when he failed to maintain a single lane of traffic and drifted right onto the grass shoulder. The driver over-corrected and crossed two lanes of traffic before mounting the median and crossing southbound traffic.
Two other vehicles — a semi driven by Ernesto Ramirez, a 37-year-old Okeechobee man, and a Chrysler 300 driven by Jesus Vela, a 30-year-old Belle Glade man — collided with Mr. Watson’s vehicle in the area near the third axle.
The cab of Mr. Watson’s semi then separated from its trailer before coming to a final rest on the west side grass shoulder. Mr. Ramirez’s vehicle came to a stop southbound in lane two and Mr. Vela’s vehicle came to a stop mounted on the median.
Ernesto Ramirez was pronounced deceased on the scene and Jesus Vela was transported to St. Mary’s Medical Center in stable condition.
