Okeechobee girls 'pick up the tab' for Christmas

OKEECHOBEE — Rowan & Kena Cortes, along with our community’s help, did a fantastic job with their “PICKUP THE TAB” fundraiser. 

In only a month, these two young ladies collected soda can tabs to raise money to help a local family in need for Christmas. Not only did these compassionate girls go around the entire community talking to local restaurant owners, businesses and organizations, they started an entire movement for our local community to participate in!
 
These girls raised a total of $500 to donate to the Healthy Start Giving Tree Christmas Program.

It’s not too late to make a cash donation to Healthy Start. All the proceeds will be spent on Christmas gifts for local children in need.

"To say they both make me proud is an understatement. Way to go girls!" said mom Phylicia Cortes.
