Okeechobee County has a full-service health department

Posted

OKEECHOBEE - A local woman discovered just how far the Okeechobee County Health Department will go to take care of the community this week. On Tuesday, March 30, she went to the Agri-Civic Center to get vaccinated.  All went smoothly until she reached the tent where they administer the shot. As she pulled up to that area, she said about 10 people surrounded her car. She opened her window, and a man said, "Good morning. Don't worry about a thing. We are going to take care of your shot, and then we will take care of your tire." The woman stared at him and asked,  "Is something wrong with my tire?" The man said, "Ma'am, your tire is  flat." She said she had no idea, probably because she was sitting in line for a while and driving very slowly. The workers were true to their word. They gave her the shot and then went on a hunt for an air compressor. The man behind her happened to have one in his car, and he hooked it up. It took about 20 minutes to inflate the tire, and the man behind her walked in and got his shot while he was waiting. By the time the tire was ready, The woman's 15-minute waiting period was over, and the workers called ahead to tell the next stop to let her through so she could go get her tire fixed. She said, "They really are a full-service health department. I am so grateful for all they did."
