Posted

CLEWISTON- A new community garden is being planned in the Harlem area of Clewiston. Sponsored by the Harlem Civic Improvement Council, Harlem Tenants Association, U.S. Sugar, and the University of Florida IFAS Plant Science Research and Education Unit, this garden will be a welcome change of pace for locals who have faced the challenges 2020 has thrown at them from pandemics to tropical storms, and everything in between.

A place to to spend some time outdoors, working with their hands and growing various fruits and veggies alongside others, the organizers of this community garden hope it will promote unity amongst area residents.

“Looking forward to this venue so many people excited!!! Clewiston area let’s unite and make this a regional garden,” replied Janet Taylor, one of the community leaders involved in the project.

“The people of U.S. Sugar are proud to support Clewiston’s newest community garden! We are grateful to work with local organizations that continuously inspire our communities to grow and flourish,” wrote a spokesperson for U.S. Sugar.
