Quarters for a Cause date set
American Legion Post 64, 501 S.E. Second St., will host Quarters For a Cause to benefit Kyle Vericella on Tuesday, May 21, from 6 to 7 p.m. Kyle was diagnosed with inoperable brain cancer at the age of 18. Paddles for biding will be $2 each. If you would like to make a donation of an item to be raffled or give a monetary donation, please call Janice Pietro at 561-310-3285.

GCMA meeting set May 10
MOORE HAVEN — Glades County Ministerial Association (GCMA) will hold its monthly meeting on Friday, May 10, at Cafe 27, 498 U.S. 27, at 6:30 p.m. All Glades County pastors with their spouses are invited. Please RSVP by noon on May 10 by calling 863-990-2112.

Shrine Club hosts events
The Okeechobee Shrine Club, 1855 S.W. 53rd St., will host a catfish dinner on Friday, May 10, at 6:30 p.m. in the Oasis Lounge. There will be live music and cost is $6 per person. On Saturday, May 18, there will be a catfish dinner from 5 to 9 p.m. with The Justin Mason Band playing. Tickets will be $12 at the door and the doors will open at 4:30 p.m.

Mother’s Day ceremony set
The Lake Okeechobee Elks Lodge, 131 N.W. 36th St., will host a Mother’s Day ceremony on Sunday, May 12, at 1 p.m. This is a free event and refreshments will follow the ceremony. The public is encouraged to attend.

VFW Post 9528 hosts events
BUCKHEAD RIDGE — The VFW Post 9528, 29012 S.R. 78 E., will host the following events: The Post will serve dinner on Friday, May 10, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The menu includes grilled boneless ribeye steak, grilled pork tenderloin, fried fish and shrimp, baked and french fried potatoes, baked sweet potatoes, fried onion rings, salad, and dessert, with music by Travis 6 to10 p.m. On Saturday, May 11, the VFW Riders will serve a full breakfast from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and wings and things at 4 p.m. On Mother’s Day, Sunday, May 12, Lady AmVets will serve a full breakfast from 8 to 10:30 a.m. On Wednesday, May 15, the AmVets will serve a dinner of swiss steak, mashed potatoes, peas, and more at 5 p.m. The Post will serve dinner on Friday, May 17, from 5:30 to 7 p.m. with music by Medicine Man from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The VFW Riders will serve a full breakfast on Saturday, May 18, from 8:30 to 11 a.m. and wings and things at 4 p.m. Proceeds benefit veteran services. Moose Lodge 136 to host events
The Moose Lodge, 136 N.W. 36 St., will host the following events: On Friday May 10, there will be hamburger or shrimp at 5 p.m. for $6. VFW Post 4423, 304 N.W. 34 St., will host the following events: On Friday May 10, bingo 1 p.m. with karaoke at 7 p.m. On Saturday May 11, there is a bingo event 1 p.m. On Sunday May 12, Mother’s Day, there will be a lasagna dinner from 1 to 3 p.m. On Tuesday, May 14, there will be bingo at 6 p.m. For more information, call, 863-763-0818.

Legion Post 64 to host events
American Legion Post 64, 501 S.E. Second St., will host the following events: On Friday, May 10, there will be karaoke and a fish fry from 5 to 8 p.m. with your choice of fish, shrimp or chicken in a basket for $6 or on a salad for $7. Music by D&K Karaoke is from 6 to 9 p.m. On Saturday, May 11, is College Game Day with $9 buckets of domestic beer. There will be a Nascar tailgate party at 2 p.m. Later on there will be a spaghetti dinner from 5 to 8 p.m. for a $6 donation sponsored by the Sons of the American Legion. Music by D&K Karaoke. On Sunday, May 12, Mother’s Day, all mothers get a flower. At 6:30 p.m. bingo starts and the kitchen will be open from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. Monday, May 13, there will be five-card bingo from 1 to 3 p.m. with lunch served at 12:30 p.m. Tuesday, May 14, is meeting day. CPR/AED class being offered
American Heart CPR/AED class will take place on Saturday, May 11, at Okeechobee Emergency Operations Center, 707 N.W. Sixth St. CPR/AED will be from 9 a.m to noon and First Aid will be from 1 to 3 p.m. One class is $58.50 or $75 for both. Help feed families May 11

Fill a bag to help feed families on Saturday, May 11. Bag healthy nonperishable food items and place by your mailbox for your letter carrier to pick up and deliver to food banks and pantries in your community. Donate items such as pasta, cereal, oatmeal, canola oil, peanut butter and canned goods including beans, fruit, vegetables, soup, tuna in water, meat and sauce. Avoid glass containers.

SAR hosts monthly meeting
The Okeechobee Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution will host its monthly meeting on Saturday, May 11, at Beef O’Brady’s, 608 S. DAR to host meeting
The Okeechobee National Society Daughters of the American Revolution will have the final meeting of the year on Saturday, May 11, at 10 a.m. at the Okeechobee Public Library, 206 S.W. 16th St. New members will be welcomed, new officers inducted and there will be a memorial service for members deceased in the past year.

AmVets to host bingo
The AmVets Post 200, 3651 U.S. 441 S.E. Bay 6, will host five-card bingo on Sunday, May 12, and Tuesday, May 14, from 2 to 4 p.m. This event is open to members and guests. For more information, please call 863-484-8135.

Support group meeting set
The Inner Truth Project will hold a support group for survivors of sexual trauma on the second Monday of each month starting May 13 at Our Village Okeechobee, 1703 S.W. Second Ave. Adult meetings will be held from 6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Teen meetings (13-18) will be held from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Free coed support group will meet in a safe, encouraging space. Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 901 S.W. 6th St., will host bingo Monday, May 13, and Monday, May 20. Doors open at 5:30 p.m. and games begin at 7 p.m. May 20 will be the last bingo for this year.

Hospice Yard Sales set
Hospice, 317 S.E. Third Ave., will hold an End of Season Yard Sale Closeout on Wednesday, May 15, 22 and 29, from 8 a.m. to noon. A bag of clothes for $3 and two bags for $5. Everything else is 50% off.

Businesswomen to meet

Board of directors to meet
