MARTIN COUNTY -- A fatal traffic accident on State Road 710 tied up traffic for hours on Friday, Nov. 18.
According to the Florida Highway Patrol report, the accident occurred at 11:43 a.m. at the intersection of State Road 710 and State Road 714 (aka Martin Highway, formerly known as Martin Grade.)
An 80-year-old Moore Haven man was driving a sedan south on State Road 710, approaching SR 714. A semi, driven by a 43-year-old Georgia man was traveling northbound on State Road 710.
The sedan driver attempted to negotiate a left turn onto SR 714. The sedan traveled into the path of the semi. The front of the semi struck the right side of the sedan.
A female passenger in the sedan, also from Moore Haven, was killed in the crash. The sedan driver was seriously injured.
The semi driver was not injured, according to the FHP report.
