NAPLES, Fla. (July 29, 2019) – Meals of Hope, the largest food pantry provider in Southwest Florida, is feeding 550 Collier County kids in need of food assistance as part of the Summer BreakSpot program.
The children are attending seven Collier County summer camps – including the Salvation Army of Naples camp at the Fran Cohen Youth and the Gargulio Education Center in Naples.
“Meals of Hope has been a tremendous help to us in feeding our summer campers both breakfast and lunch,” said Mary Asta, executive director of the Gargulio Education Center. “With their help, we’re even able to send the bagged lunches along with the kids on field trips during the week.”
“Summer puts a strain on many families who rely on their children eating breakfasts and lunches at school,” said Stephen Popper, Meals of Hope president and CEO. “We’re helping to ease this burden by bringing the food to the children while they’re spending the day at camp.”

Meals of Hope provides a total of 13 food pantries – including six mobile pantries – throughout Collier and Lee Counties to distribute fresh and nutritious food to approximately 1,000 families each week. Additional services and summer meal programs serve more than 10,000 Southwest Florida residents each month.
You can help by donating food, sponsoring a mobile pantry or volunteering at a mobile pantry. Volunteers need to arrive one hour before the mobile pantry distribution starts, stay the full three hours, and wear closed-toe shoes. Call 239-537-7775 for more information.
With the help of more than 25,000 volunteers, Meals of Hope packed 8.5 million meals in 2018 at events in Southwest Florida and throughout the United States.
