OKEECHOBEE – A cattle drive featuring a small herd of Texas Longhorn cattle was the highlight of the 2025 Speckled Perch Festival Parade, held March 8 in downtown Okeechobee.
Will Butler was Trail Boss for the event. The six Texas Longhorns are owned by Matt Pearce of P1 Cattle Company.
Thirty-nine riders accompanied the cattle, ensuring the safety of the parade spectators. Participants included Okeechobee Cattlemen’s Association President Flint Johns, Okeechobee Cattlewomen’s Association President Lauren Butler and Okeechobee Junior Cattlemen’s Association President Ricky Hartman.
The purpose of the cattle drive was to create interest in the Okeechobee Cowtown Rodeo and showcase the community’s cattle heritage.
