BELLE GLADE — The Lawerence E. Will Museum held a ribbon cutting on April 3 of their new Hall of Honor, an addition to the museum that pays tribute to the accomplishments of local athletes from Belle Glade and Pahokee.

The exhibit honors Pahokee and Belle Glade’s long history of professional athletes who have made the jump up from the muck to the National Football League. The two towns have had dozens of young athletes representing the muck in the NFL. Including Janoris Jenkins, Anquan Boldin, Rickey Jackson, Santonio Holmes, Kelvin Benjamin, Fred Taylor, and more.

Glades Central and Pahokee have forged one of the most intense high school football rivalries in not only the State of Florida, but the entire nation. And through that rivalry, greatness has grown. These two small town high schools have produced more professional football players per capita than anywhere else in the world.

And that’s exactly what the Hall of Honor in Belle Glade pays tribute to. The exhibit recognized more than 70 NFL players that have came from the area. There’s also a section dedicated to the Muck Bowl, the annual rivalry game between Glades Central and Pahokee that is the highlight of every football season around Lake Okeechobee.

The hall features team pictures, player biographies, state championship records signed jerserys and memorabilia, and more.

The Lawrence E. Will Museum is located in Belle Glade at 530 S Main St.
