MOORE HAVEN- The Moore Haven Lady Terriers softball team secured back-to-back victories over the Glades Day Lady Gators and the Frostproof Lady Bulldogs.
Moore Haven defeated Frostproof 9-7 and Glades Day 12-0. The Lady Terriers are 4-1 and have now won four straight thanks to previous win over LaBelle and Southwest Florida Christian.
Charisma Micco was on the pitcher's mound for the Lady Terriers’ shutout over Glades Day on March 11. She allowed only two hits in six innings and struck out 12 batters. Micco also helped the lead the Lady Terriers on offense, with her and Brooklyn Sergent each having three hits and two RBIs.
The Lady Terriers jumped out to a big early lead in their game against Frostproof on March 10, leading 8-1 by the bottom of the fourth inning. The Lady Bulldogs rallied back in the top of the seventh, but it was too little too late and Moore Haven held on to win 9-7.
Sergent had a team leading four RBIs against Frostproof. Both Sergent and Micco hit doubles in the game, while JoEllen Erskin hit a triple.
Moore Haven finished last season 15-10 and were one of the elite eight teams in the region after back-to-back wins in the 2A regional playoffs. The Lady Terriers upset the number two seed, the Admiral Farragut Lady Blue Jackets, 10-4 in the regional quarterfinal.
Then in last year’s regional semifinal, the Lady Terriers defeated the Seacrest Country Day Lady Stingrays 16-9.
