OKEECHOBEE — Elene Lowden from the Cayuga Centers was the guest speaker last week at the Kiwanis Club of Okeechobee meeting held at Lakeside Grill.
The Cayuga Center is an organization that helps pair children in need with foster families who can make a positive impact on their lives.
The Cayuga Centers provide 24/7 support, ongoing foster parent training, and monthly tax-free compensation so that families have the tools needed to transform a young person’s life.
The Cayuga Centers’ extensive foster care training and support services mean that foster parents can feel confident in their skills and abilities to be excellent caregivers.
Lowden spoke on several services provided to foster parents such as support groups, foster parent training, 24/7 support, monthly compensation, skills training and therapeutic services.
There is a process and requirements for foster parents to meet in order to qualify which include being 21 years old or older, residing in Okeechobee, St Lucie, Indian River, Palm Beach or Broward Counties and having a furnished room for a child and other requirements.
