CLEWISTON — Beginning Monday, Oct. 5, Hendry County’s contractor, Community Asphalt Corp., will be conducting construction services and roadwork on Sonora Avenue from W.C. Owen Avenue to Twin Lakes Drive in Clewiston.
The project includes milling and resurfacing of the roadway, sidewalk construction, guardrail installation, and bridge repairs.
The speed limit will be reduced through the project area.
Motorists should expect lane closures and possible delays throughout the duration of the project and allow extra time for their commute.
Motorists and pedestrians should use extra caution when traveling through the work zone.
The project is expected to have a completion time of approximately 150 days to 180 days.
Construction operations will occur during weekdays, Monday through Friday, 7 a.m. to 5 p.m. Evening work hours will vary during milling and resurfacing operations.

The project is 100% funded under the Florida Department of Transportation Small County Outreach Program/Small County Road Assistance Program state grant in the amount of $776,518.60.
