OKEECHOBEE- Five Okeechobee High School student-athletes signed letters of intent on National Signing Day on Feb. 7.

Santana Alvarez, Ni’marion Bryant, Jazari Corde, Tyrone Hayes, and Gavin Kindell all signed letters of intent to continue their education and athletic careers at the next level

“As a dad, it’s a proud moment,” said Eric Kindell, Brahman baseball coach and father of Gavin Kindell. “In elevens that I’ve coached we’ve had 26 student-athletes go on to continue their education and career playing baseball. And this time it happens to be my son. We’re proud of you, buddy.”

Alvarez, Bryant, Corde, and Hayes were all part of a Brahman football program that had their first winning season in nearly ten years. Okeechobee finished with a 6-4 record this season. The Brahman defense held Okeechobee’s first three opponents scoreless while the offense racked up 141 points in the same three-game timespan.

“I’m really proud of having this many players sign today,” said Brahman football coach B.J. Pryor. “And we have three more that are still deciding, so we’ll have another ceremony later when they’ve made their decision.”

All four Brahman football players were nominated by Pryor for 2023 All District, and played in the Treasure Coast vs West Palm Beach All Star Game this year.

“I have to thank my lord and savior Jesus Christ,” said Hayes after signing his letter of intent,” because without him none of this would be possible. And without my brothers up here pushing me everyday, this wouldn’t have been possible either. I want to thank this town for letting me be part of your family. I appreciate it. I’ll see ya’ll at the top.”
