Gamma Phi, the Immokalee chapter of DKG, an organization of professional female educators, met Tuesday, February 12 at the Immokalee Technical College.
Members learned about volunteer opportunities at St. Matthew’s house from St. Matthew’s volunteer coordinator, Michelle Mendoza.
Members also worked on their ongoing service project of providing bags and purses filled with hygiene products and Valentine goodies for the women at the Friendship House.
DKG member Lori Snell talked about her two recent books and her goal of providing her books to every 2nd grader in Collier County Public Schools. Currently she has received enough donations to sponsor every 2nd grade class in Immokalee. Now Lori Snell’s goal is to get sponsors for all the 2nd grade classes in Naples.
The meeting ended with DKG members presenting Lori Snell with a $500 check that will go towards sponsoring a school in Naples.
