Hospital not allowing visitors
OKEECHOBEE — For the safety of their patients, visitors, physicians, colleagues and community there will be no visitors allowed at Raulerson Hospital. Exceptions will only be made in the following circumstance: Pediatric ER patients are allowed one asymptomatic, adult guardian at a time.

Meeting to be held at library
OKEECHOBEE — The Friends of the Library of Okeechobee will hold a meeting on Wednesday, Jan. 13, at 4 p.m. in the large room at the Okeecchobee County Library, 216 S.W 16th St. Open to residents and visitors of Okeechobee. Current hours are Tuesday through Satuday from 10 a.m. to 6 p.m. The Friends assist and support the library with programs and activities for everyone. If you are interested in joining, please attend a meeting or inquire at the front desk of the library.

Legion Post #64 hosts events
OKEECHOBEE — American Legion Post #64, 501 S.E. Second St., will host the following events: On Wednesday, Jan. 13, you can purchase margaritas and tacos from 11 a.m. to 5:45 p.m. and the grill is open too. Enjoy music by Wayne Pervis from 3 to 6 p.m. Thirsty Thursday is Jan. 14, when you can sign up to win a $20 bar tab. You can purchase buckets of beer and screwdrivers. Five-card bingo is back from 4 to 6 p.m. Lunch will be served all day. On Friday, Jan. 15, wear a red shirt and get registered for a free dinner for two with the Auxiliary Friday fish-fry. The kitchen is open from 5 to 8 p.m. Enjoy live music by D&K Karaoke from 6 to 9 p.m. On Saturday, Jan. 16, Happy Hour is all day and you can purchase buckets of domestic beer. On Sunday, Jan. 17, watch NFL games. You can also purchase $1 drafts and there are chicken wing specials. On Monday, Jan. 18, five-card bingo is from 1 to 3 p.m. Lunch starts at 11 a.m. Top Shelf Tuesday is Jan. 19, when you can sign up to win your choice of any bottle in stock drawn the first Tuesday of each month. Lunch is served all day. Meetings are at 6 p.m. You can also purchase bloody Marys and buckets of domestic beer all day. If you wish to purchase a take-out order when meals are served, call ahead at 863-763-5303

VFW Post 4423 hosts events
OKEECHOBEE — VFW Post 4423, 300 N.W. 34th St., will host the following events: On Wednesday, Jan. 13, three-card bingo starts at 1 p.m. On Thursday, Jan. 14, dauber bingo starts at 1 p.m. On Friday, Jan. 15, dauber bingo starts at 1 p.m. Catfish and burgers will be served at 6 p.m. Karaoke with Justin and Felicia is at 7 p.m. On Saturday, Jan. 16, dauber bingo is at 1 p.m. On Monday, Jan. 18, three-card bingo is at 1 p.m. On Tuesday, Jan. 19, dauber bingo is at 6 p.m.

Magistrate hearing set
OKEECHOBEE — The Okeechobee County Code Enforcement will hold a Special Magistrate Hearing on Tuesday, Jan. 19, at 9 a.m. at the Health Department Auditorium, 1728 N.W. Ninth Ave. For information, call 863-763-5548.

Valentine’s dance planned
OKEECHOBEE — The Women of the Moose at Moose Lodge 1753, 159 N.W. 36th St., is taking paid reservations for its second annual Sweetheart Dinner-Dance set for Saturday, Feb. 13, from 5 to 7 p.m. The menu will include prime rib, a baked potato with all the fixin’s, salad, a roll, chocolate fountain for dessert, and a surprise gift! There will be music by Jerry Allen from 6:15 to 9 p.m. See the bartender to make your reservations. Last year sold out so make your reservations today!

Development Lobby closes
OKEECHOBEE — The Community Development Division Lobby (consisting of Planning & Zoning Department, Building/Permitting and Code Enforcement) located at 1700 N.W. 9 Avenue, closed to the public effective Tuesday, Jan. 12. All Offices will reopen on Tuesday, Jan. 19, at 8 a.m. The departments have placed a drop box outside the front door for all paperwork to be delivered.

BOCC offices close Jan. 15 & 18

OKEECHOBEE - All county offices will be closed Friday, Jan. 15 from noon to 5 p.m. for Employee Appreciation Day. All BOCC offices will be closed on Monday, Jan.18, in observance of Martin Luther King, Jr. Day. All offices will re-open Tuesday, Jan. 19, at 8 a.m. The County Fire Department is not affected by this closure and will continue to provide services.

BUCKHEAD RIDGE — The VFW Post 9528, 29012 S.R. 78 E., will host the following events: On Wednesday, Jan. 13, burgers and fries will be served from 12:30 to 2 p.m. The VFW Auxiliary will serve reubens at 5 p.m. On Thursday, Jan. 14, burgers and fries will be served from 11:30 a.m. to 1 p.m. and dauber bingo starts at 1 p.m. On Friday, Jan. 15, three-card bingo is from noon to 2 p.m. The post will serve dinner from 5:30 to 7 p.m. The menu will include grilled ribeye, grilled pork tenderloin, fried fish and more. Music by Captain JJ is from 6 to 10 p.m. On Saturday, Jan. 16, the VFW Riders will serve a full breakfast from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. and wings and fries at 5 p.m. On Sunday, Jan. 17, the VFW will serve a full breakfast from 8:30 to 10:30 a.m. Five-card bingo starts at 5 p.m. On Monday, Jan. 18, washers is at 1 p.m., Wii Bowling at 4 p.m., five-card cookie bingo is at 6 p.m. followed by righ-left-center, and euchre is at 6 p.m. On Tuesday, Jan. 19, Sons’ sliders will be served at 5:30 p.m. and cornhole is at 6:30 p.m. On Wednesday, Jan. 20, the Sons of the Amvets will serve fried chicken and fries at 5 p.m. Proceeds from all events benefit veterans services. Yard sale canceled
LAKEPORT — The Point of Light Fellowship Church, 15399 East State Road 78, yard sale scheduled for Thursday, Jan. 14 and Friday, Jan. 15 has been canceled. It is planned to be rescheduled.

Muse gets new culverts
MUSE — Glades County Public Works will be replacing two culverts on Sunset Trail on Wednesday, Jan. 20, from 10 a.m. to noon.

Land use study to be held

CLEWISTON — Hendry County invites you to attend the Montura Ranch Estates Community Land Use Study meeting on Saturday, Jan. 16, 10 a.m., at the John Boy Auditorium, 1200 W C Owen Ave. For the health and safety of all attendees, masks are strongly suggested and seats will be spaced 6 feet apart inside the auditorium for the meeting. LABELLE — The Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. March/ Parade and Community Celebration is Monday, Jan. 18 starting at 10 a.m. at the end of Martin Luther King & Cowboy Way. It ends up at the James Singleton Community Center. Everyone is welcome to participate in the Martin Luther King, Jr Celebration.
