CLEWISTON- The Clewiston High School varsity softball team honored four of its seniors before their game against the Moore Haven Lady Terriers on March 30.
Lady Tiger seniors Elyana Leon, Macy Chancey, and Brianna Madrigal were recognized before the game as well as 2020 senior Daniella Pupo.
Clewiston went on to beat Moore Haven 13-3, with sophomore Jade Potter leading the team with three RBIs and a triple.
That victory was the second in what proved to be a winning week for the Lady Tigers. The day prior on March 29 they traveled to Belle Glade and beat the Glades Central Lady Raiders 7-4. Then a day after the Moore Haven game the Lady Tigers hosted Community School of Naples who they defeated 10-5. They rounded out the week with a 10-0 shutout of American Heritage on April 1.
Overall the Lady Tigers are now 12-5 follwoing a six-game winning streak. Clewiston is ranked second in their district behind a powerhouse Oxbridge Academy squad which has lost only one game this season. Oxbridge hosted Clewiston back on March 12 and were able to shutout the Lady Tigers 16-0, something no other team has been able to do this season.
The two district leaders have a rematch coming up on the schedule, this time in Clewiston at Sugarland Park. The Lady Tigers host Oxbridge on April 9, with the game scheduled to begin at 6 p.m.
Before that though Clewiston will have a chance to avenge another loss from earlier this season. The Lady Tigers lost to Immokalee 10-1 back on March 22. Next they’ll travel to face them again on April 5.
The Lady Tigers have played well in revenge games this year. So far, whenever they’ve had the opportunity to replay a team they lost to earlier in the season, the Lady Tigers have won. They lost to LaBelle 15-5 on March 5, then came back to defeat them 4-3 on March 26. They lost to American Heritage in extra innings 8-5 on March 11, then shut them out 10-0 just this week on April 1.
The Lady Tiger revenge tour continues on April 5 at 7 p.m. when they hit the road to take on Immokalee once again.
