fireworksHave you decided how you’ll celebrate 240 years of American freedom and pride this year?

It will be a “bang up” year with several old favorites back - the raft race and pie contest!

Stop by the Firehouse Theatre booth for popcorn and cotton candy. Say the phrase “You’re a good man, Charlie Brown” and receive a free prize while they last! (F.C.T. members, actors, helpers and associates are not eligible.)

Watch out for the splash! The rafts will hit the water at 5 p.m. The event will be followed by booths and entertainment in Barron Park and the day will be capped off by everybody’s favorite - fireworks at dark!

This year the race will be open to canoes and kayaks as well as rafts. Pick up a registration form with the raft rules now at the Chamber of Commerce, Museum or from the LaBelle Downtown Revitalization Corporation LDRC (9 Park Ave.).

Calling all Great American pie bakers! Front and center! Time to show off your kitchen skills with a yummy pie - whatever is your specialty! You’ll need to bake two pies (one to be judged, one to be sold by the slice). First, second and third place winners. (Amateur bakers only, please!) For a copy of the rules call Nancy Imhoff 673-2596 or Sherrie Easterly 863-885-1500 or go to the Chamber Office.

By the way, if you love to bake but don’t want to be judged, they’ll be happy if you’d like to donate a pie to be sold! Proceeds will help defray the cost of the firework display.

Entertainment in the park will include singing, dancing and lots of kids games like a bounce house and chalk drawing.

The South Central Florida Car Club will put on a Super Cruise In, starting at 3 p.m. Cars will be staged on Lee St. near Barron Park. Awards for the best dressed cars and more. Raffle, 50/50 and door prizes. Need more info? Call 863-634-1791. Enjoy checking out the classic cars of South Central Florida Car Club members - always a hit!

If you’d like to be a vendor in the park, register now! All welcome! If you’ve got something to sell, give away, a game for the kids, information to pass along or are running for office, this is your chance. Applications can be picked up at the the LaBelle Chamber of Commerce.

Fourth of July Committee members are sill seeking donations to go along with the City of LaBelle’s. The more generous folks are, the better the fireworks will be!

Park doin’s begin at 5 p.m. with fireworks at dark. NO COOLERS, NO ALCOHOL.

Come out to Barron Park to celebrate the Fourth of July with family, friends and fun. Let your red, white and blue show through!
