LABELLE -- In the early morning hours of June 4, 2023, Hendry County Deputy D. Coronilla arrested 51-year-old Michael Preston Trammel on several felony charges to include aggravated assault with a deadly qeapon.
Deputies responded to the area of State Road 80 and Hendry Isles Blvd., after receiving a call from a woman that she was being followed and that the driver of the vehicle had attempted to run her off the road. As deputies arrived in the area, they were able to locate the victim and the suspect vehicle behind her. Deputies initiated a traffic stop and made contact with Trammel and two other witnesses.
Deputies were able to determine that Trammel did in fact follow the victim and at one point exited his vehicle and attempted to force the victim to stop by exiting his truck and stepping in front of the victim vehicle. The driver was able to swerve around Trammel. Aside from the driver and an 18-year-old, there were three minor children inside the truck.
In speaking with witnesses that were present in the truck with Trammel and with the witnesses in the victim’s vehicle, deputies placed Trammel under arrest. According to Florida Department of Corrections, Trammel is a convicted felon and had been sentenced to 22 years in prison for a second-degree murder charge in Palm Beach County. Trammel was released on March 24, 2023 after serving a 17 years
Trammel is currently being held in the Hendry Jail on charges of aggravated assault with deadly weapon without intent to kill, aggravated child abuse, aggravated stalking, operating a motor vehicle without a valid license and failure to register a motor vehicle. Trammel is currently behind held on $155,000 bond.
