Artist Spotlight: Suzanne Turner focuses on realism

Posted

Arts of the Inland’s Featured Artist of the Month, Suzanne Turner, was born in Delaware and moved to Florida in 1959. After living in Fort Myers for many years, Suzanne settled in Alva where she currently lives and works. A brilliantly talented artist nowadays, she actually never attended a single art class while attending Fort Myers High School and Edison Junior College.

After raising her family, she started to make up for lost time. Starting at the age of 48, she began to attend every class she could at the Alliance for the Arts, in Fort Myers. She also attended a weekly class at the Dee LoCascio Studio, in Cape Coral, for years. She has painted with Robert Warren and Buck Paulson, while studying in the Alexander Group in Salem, Oregon.

Turner’s talents focus on realism, with subjects ranging from animals, flowers, water scenes, landscapes, architectural features, and anything else that captures her eye. She uses watercolors, colored pencils, and oils, sometimes layering thinned oil color washes on black and white oil outlines.

Suzanne has exhibited her work at the Fort Myers Post Office, as well as numerous private exhibitions. She is a welcome addition to the Arts of the Inland. As their featured artist for the month of November, she will have her works exhibited at the Barron Park House Gallery, Thursdays through Sundays from noon - 5:00 p.m. throughout the month of November.

Arts of the Inland welcomes all artists to join and exhibit their art. The next receiving day will be October 29, 2019 from 3:00 - 6:00 p.m. The Gallery is located at 571 N. Lee Street, in LaBelle. If you are interested in exhibiting they can be reached via email at artsinland@gmail.com.
