The South Florida Environmental Report highlights another year of significant progress for Everglades restoration and water quality across Central and Southern Florida.

ONLINE ACCESS: The full report, which is available on our website, highlights record hydration and improvement of water quality, momentum for sending more water south, groundbreakings and ribbon cuttings of major Everglades restoration projects, and many other important milestones for the resiliency of the region’s water resources and ecosystems. It also includes comprehensive information about scientific and engineering accomplishments in the Kissimmee Basin, Lake Okeechobee, Everglades and South Florida coastal areas.

MAJOR SUCCESSES HIGHLIGHTED: Major successes and achievements highlighted in this year’s report include:

• 75 Everglades projects have been completed, broken ground or hit a major milestone since January 2019 to improve water management for the benefit of more than 9 million residents in Central and Southern Florida.
• The data demonstrates the success of Everglades restoration projects, proving increased investments and continued momentum are successfully ensuring more natural flows through the Everglades and more balanced salinity levels in Florida Bay.
• Major components of the Everglades Agricultural Area (EAA) Reservoir Project continue to advance and will help restore the natural flow of clean water south to where it is needed most, while reducing harmful discharges to the St. Lucie River, the Caloosahatchee River and the Lake Worth Lagoon.
• Major Comprehensive Everglades Restoration Plan (CERP) projects will come online this year, including the initial operations of the Caloosahatchee (C-43) Reservoir, the Picayune Strand Restoration Project, and the Biscayne Bay Coastal Wetlands Project.
• Significant infrastructure adaptation investments continue to be made to ensure the resiliency of the region’s water resources and ecosystems.
