The 11th Annual Collier County 4-H Livestock Show kicked off on Thursday at Roberts Ranch and concluded with an auction and games over the weekend. Curtis Summeralls, Chairperson with the Collier County 4-H Livestock Show, said that their goal is to keep the passion alive when it comes to working with farm animals and to teach youth about the fundamentals of food safety and raising livestock. As the young contestants brought their animals in, they were judged by Roy Beckford who looked for several things including how well the young handlers managed their entries. Most of the judging took place Thursday, Friday, and Saturday, while the swine and steer auction was held Saturday evening. Several different types of animals were shown including nine swine, one breeding calf, two market steer, 11 types of poultry, 10 goats, and seven rabbits.
