With heavy hearts, we announce the passing of Sylvia May “Lucille” Powell, affectionately known as Mother Powell, on May 4, 2025, at the age of 98. Born in Jamaica to Leopold and Priscilla Alcott, she was the eldest of ten children and a lifelong woman of faith who touched countless lives through her prayers, generosity, and unwavering devotion to Christ.

She migrated to New York in the 1960s with her husband, Verley Powell, and their children, later settling in Labelle, Florida. A beloved mother of eight, she leaves behind a legacy of 32 grandchildren, 51 great-grandchildren, and 6 great-great-grandchildren.

Mother Powell dedicated her life to serving the Lord, inspiring her children to do the same. She was ordained as a missionary, led Bible study groups, and ministered in prisons and nursing homes. She was a pillar of strength, a prayer warrior, and the heart of our family. She will be deeply missed and forever remembered.

A celebration of her life will be held on May 24th at 11am and located at International Christian Fellowship 233 Clark St. Labelle, FL  33935
