MIMS — Sledd’s U-Pick in Mims, Fla. is known for more than just produce. One of its most popular attractions is the sunflower maze. People from far and wide visit the four-acre maze to take photos for graduation, weddings, birth announcements, etc.
This year, owner Stacey DeMoss, posted that she was unable to grow pumpkins for the fall due to an abundance of rain and wet fields. She attempted to plant them in August, but said the weather was brutally hot, and the pumpkins would not have survived the heat.
She was able to plant the sunflowers for her annual maze and expects to have it open to the public in mid to late December. The sunflowers stand about 6-foot tall and usually bloom for about a month.
Strawberries are also available beginning in December and various vegetables are ready in the spring. Starting in May, blackberries are generally ready to be picked.
Only service animals are permitted on the property.
Sledd’s is located on Buckholm Road and Dixie Way. They can be contacted on Facebook or by phone at 321-537-7003.
