OKEECHOBEE — As always, the Okeechobee Fraternal Order of Police Shop with a Cop event was a huge success, making the dreams of some of Okeechobee’s children a reality.
Shop with a Cop has been taking place in Okeechobee since 2008, and some of the officers who take part in the event look forward to it all year.
According to Okeechobee County Sheriff’s Lt. Michael Hazellief, they have shopped with well over 1,000 children since they first began the program. Shop with a Cop is sponsored by the Fraternal Order of Police, and all the law enforcement officers who participate are volunteering their time.
Donors provide the money for the children's shopping sprees.
