JUPITER -- The Convocation of Seminole War Historians was held in Jupiter Apr 1-3, and was hosted by the Loxahatchee Battlefield Preservationist.
The Convocation was the first time in 184 years that Seminoles from the Seminole Nation of Oklahoma have returned to the home of their ancestors after being forced to immigrate to Indian Territory during the Seminole Wars. The Convocation included speakers on Seminole culture, the history of the Wars, and the Battle of Loxahatchee. Local speakers included Lewis Gopher and Jade Osceola from Brighton. Representing the Okeechobee Battlefield Friends were Dowling Watford and Magi Cable.
