OKEECHOBEE – HCA Florida Raulerson Hospital recently joined forces with the United Way of St. Lucie and Okeechobee Counties to support their annual Spring Day of Caring, part of HCA Florida Healthcare’s “We Show Up for Our Communities Week” initiative.
Hospital colleagues volunteered across several local organizations, including Okeechobee Healthy Start Coalition, Our Village Okeechobee and the Pregnancy Center of Okeechobee. The team participated in a wide variety of service activities throughout the day, including assembling 75 spring cleaning kits, pressure washing, painting both interior and exterior surfaces, updating landscaping, sorting thousands of donated clothing items, building shelves and organizing food donations.
“At HCA Florida Raulerson Hospital, we believe our commitment to care doesn’t stop at the hospital doors,” said Brian Melear, CEO of HCA Florida Raulerson Hospital. “Volunteering is a powerful way we can show up for our community. We’re proud to stand alongside these community partners and support the well-being of Okeechobee in every way we can.”
The hospital’s participation is part of HCA Healthcare’s broader mission to improve more lives in more ways by building stronger, healthier communities through service and outreach.
In 2024, more than 2,300 HCA Healthcare colleagues united to volunteer over 11,600 hours, making a significant impact in our community. Our facility alone contributed over 700 hours of service, demonstrating our commitment to fostering positive change. Our team firmly believes in the power of collective action and the profound effect it can have on our community. We're looking forward to continuing to make a difference, one volunteer hour at a time!
