OKEECHOBEE- The Osceola Middle School Lady Warriors faced off with the Sebastian Charter Lady Eagles in Okeechobee on Sept. 13.
The Lady Eagles jumped out to an early 12-9 lead in the first set, and Osceola fought back and managed to tie the game 18-18. But, it wasn’t long before the Lady Eagles jumped back into the lead. In fact, Sebastian Charter held the lead for almost the entire set. Still, the Lady Warriors refused to back down.
Slowly, but surely, OMS rallied to tie the game 24-24 thanks to some good communication on defense and great serves from Laekyn Rhodes and Rhiley McQueen. Callie Love also had a few impressive diving saves that kept OMS alive. In dramatic fashion, the Lady Warriors went on to complete the rally and take the first set 27-25.
OMS fought hard in the second and third sets, but Sebastian Charter was just too good down the stretch. The Lady Eagles put together a string of great saves and aces to win the second set 25-18 and third set 15-8.
The Lady Warriors will be back on the court again on Sept. 18 when they travel across Okeechobee County to Yearling Middle School to play the Lady Bulls. OMS and YMS volleyball tips off at 4:30 p.m.
